How often can you witness a python strike it's pray and eat them??? well, you may get to see it all the time if you're their care taker... but as a normal person, how often?
Last weekend, after a family function, we had a short family trip to Bintan, Indonesia... My aunt managed to book a private 3-bedroom villa owned by HDB... The beautiful... will blog about it later... today's main point is about witnessing a python's feeding time...
In the resort, there's a mini zoo located at 1 corner... they have tons of birds... a huge vulture... huge fishes... 3 small pythons... and a FREAKING HUGE 25 years old python (our main star)... and during 1 of the nights we were there, we were told that they are feeding the big python at around 12 midnight... We had a private 6 seater buggy which we can use for our transportation around the resort... Driving that buggy around in the middle of the night wasn't such a good idea because the place has limited street lamp... and it was quite scary... you won't know what you'll shine on ahead of you...
About 5 plus minutes of buggy ride, Jerome & I arrived at the mini zoo just in time for the feeding... The care taker told us... that they feed the python (the main star) 2 pigs every month... and the rest of the pythons - 2 chickens every month...
We watched them putting the pig into the 'cage'... poor pig walking around the enclosure, don't know what will happen to it...
Look at it enter innocently...
And seconds later... WOOSH~~~ the python strikes at the pig's ass (don't know why it chooses that part... but... yeah... it did...) and again, in seconds, the python curls round the pig and with all it's powerful muscles, it strangles the pig... the pig only cried like 2 seconds and died... THAT"S HOW FAST THAT FAT OLD PYTHON KILLS!!!
Check out the dead pig's tongue... ( just like cartoon characters when they die, they stick out their tongue... )
It's really an eye opener for the both of us (Jerome & I) to get to witness this happening (it totally scarred Jerome for life... during the whole trip, he dare not touch any pork dishes that was served...)... though it's really cruel, but that's how mother nature wants it to be... pythons won't eat animals that are already dead... so, poor pig... The care taker told us that the pig they fed it was considered small... they actually feeds it a bigger size pig... and that pig we saw was quite big considering the snake's head being sooo small compared to the size of the pig... Anyway, enough said... PICTURE TIME!!!
Now towards the leg... before reaching this end, the python crushes the pig's bones even more... so it's easier for it to swallow...
Last of the trotters...
Look at it slowly moving downwards... Big lump!!! Even it admirers it's lump... and says: so yummy~~~ so satisfied!!!~~~
Big Wide Smirk~~~
Check out the lump once more... (don't miss it...) it's gonna be there for at least 2 weeks!!!
