The Year Of The OX!!!

It's the end of the old year, and welcome of the New YEAR...

And this new year, happens to be the Year Of The OX~~~

It's going to be a moo-licious year ahead so gamble your way through this red occasion and collect as much red packets as you can to survive the year (of recession)...

But most importantly, give and take as much happiness and prosperity as you can. That's the most important thing. You know why? Because no winnings or red packet contents can buy happiness. wah~~~

Anyway... Just drop by to wish you guys -

It's time to sit back, relax and watch some dancing lions perform their glorious stunts with the help of the loud banging by the Chinese drummers, well drummer actually...

Better do as you're told or else...

The big giant grey OX will come chasing after you!!!

Happy Chinese New Year!!!

Seeing RED... again

*Warning! Lots of RED in this post*

I've been seeing too much red this month. The month of January - the month of Chinese New Year. Apart from seeing bloody red about 1 week and half ago - my accident at work which left me with a bloody hand, now I'm seeing RED everywhere else.

I'm seeing red decorations in Mid Valley, Sunway Pyramid, The Gardens (well, theirs are pink but it's in the red family). With beautiful red and pinkish lanterns hanging all over the mall, especially in the centre courts. Mid Valley has yet again out done themselves by hanging long strips of material with cuttings that form designs and patterns on them like you can see in the pictures below. Other than that, they hung red lanterns of different shapes and sizes. It's practically damn bloody RED.
Mid Valley's Centre Court.
Just outside Metrojaya, Mid Valley.
This is also Mid Valley's Centre Court,Taken after a 9pm movie with my dad
(See the lil guy in the picture, he's practicing his acrobats with his team. He's also dressed in RED)
The Garden's Centre Court. (At least their CNY deco's better than their Christmas deco)
OK, other than seeing red hand, red decorations. Have you guys watched the new RED movie yet? Well it's actually the second part of the movie.

RED Cliff - Part 2
This is a Chinese epic film based on the Battle of Red Cliffs and events during the end of the Han Dynasty and immediately prior to the period of the Three Kingdoms in ancient China. You can read more about it by clicking 'Red Cliff'

Red Cliff Part 1
My cousin sis (from my mom's side) has yet again won 8 tickets to the premier of this movie. Seriously, this cousin of mine, has like this winning streak going on. Whatever competitions she joined whether it's a radio competition, tru the TV or newspaper. She'll win. Once, she joined this astro CSI competition and won RM3000. And she doesn't even watch CSI for crying out loud!!! She even won tickets for the 1st part of Red Cliff. Too bad that 'power' of hers can't be used on buying lotteries. Ha!

In my personal opinion, I prefer the 1st part of Red Cliff. The 1st part has more action as compared to the 2nd part. More strategies. It makes it more interesting. But the second part is not bad too - the cunning schemes they come up with. Anyway, it's a MUST watch show on my list. Though, i prefer IP Man's actions to Red Cliff. (I know, i can't compare these 2 movies) But their both stories about China's history so i thought why not just join 2 movies in 1 post.

IP Man is another MUST watch movie.

Starring : Donnie Yen
The Kung Fu stunts here are AWESOME~~~ Someone sooo humble, gaining the WHOLE town's respect. Even at his lowest time in life - where he had to abandon his wealthy life and strive like the rest of the town, people still respected him - calling him Yip Sifu whenever they bump into him. Unbelievable!!!
This is the REAL IP Man.
His son, Ip Ching, published a book about his late father. (even the words on the book cover's RED)

Anywayz, I'm already out of the topic, back to the RED topic.

I went CNY shopping with my mom on sat. And it's my most satisfying CNY shopping ever!!! I actually managed to buy the clothes that i really wanted and not clothes that i have to search high and low without any idea of what I'm searching for. Happy Happy ME!!! It's really gonna be a RED Chinese New Year.

Happy Chinese New Year Everyone!!!

See(a)food!!!

Ok, so Chinese New Year is on it's way... And as it's Chinese New Year, what's it without dinner? Not just any normal dinner, a dinner with a special dish; a dish that's only served during CNY...

The One and Only - Yee Sang...
It's sad to see it all go hay-wire when it was all piled up nicely before...
And it always ends up looking like this in the end...
Well personally, i don't really fancy Yee Sang. My taste buds don't really like hanging out with Yee Sang... it's like putting a cat and dog together in the same room.

Once in awhile, my family and I (and sometimes, my close neighbour) will go out for dinner. And since it's a special occasion (CNY), we decided to go for an expensive dinner. Our initial plan was to go to this Chinese restaurant in KL city - opposite Citybank, it's sort of an above average kind of restaurant. When we arrived, the queue for cars were soooo long, we waited for quite awhile following the queue of cars (of coz, it's Malaysia, so there are idiots who tries to cut queue), my dad wouldn't let them, so he tries his best to try to kiss the front car's butt as close as he can to stop the idiots from cutting in. I mean, why can't they just be patient and queue like the rest of us. We're hungry too!!!

Anyway, by the time we found a parking lot, and went up to the restaurant. We assumed that reservations were made by my neighbour since he suggested eating there, but nooooooo, he had to choose not to make a reservation =.='... and yes, and you can guess, i was hungry that time and everybody knows a hungry soyan is an angry soyan. The fire was starting to burn, they(my family and neighbour) were lucky that it wasn't already burning when we arrive because i just woke up from my 'car ride nap'. it takes awhile for me to rewire myself. Anwayzz, in the end, we had to pay RM3.30 for the car park that we only spent like less than a minute in because it's per entry =.=', and headed off to a seafood restaurant in Selayang. The seafood there is expensive and they're quite fresh if you know how to pick them.

When we arrived at the restaurant, my tummy started to roar like a dinosaur(do they roar?) Beside the restaurant, is a seafood wholesaler. So we pick our seafood from the wholesaler, pay for it there, and then ask the restaurant to cook it for us and pay them for their services. So let me show you our dishes... Right after Yee Sang was mixed, killed, eaten, digested... Next comes,

Huge fresh oysters!!!
and when i say huge, i mean HUGE!!! just look at the size of this one!!!
Oh, and i didn't have any, coz i can't stand the taste. but it was nice to see :)

Up next is CLAM. Another dish i disgust. Si ham is what the Chinese call it which 'Si' means sh*t (to me). This is the most disgusting clam of the 'Bivalve family' - Animals with 2 shells on each side
After that was the main dish of this dinner. And i thought it was for the Yee Sang coz it's CNY. Abalone they call it. HA! as expensive and luxurious this dish is, sadly, i don't really fancy it either. Each one of us only get 1, so you can count how many people were at the dinner. I ate half and gave the other half to my mom (aren't I so good :) )
Finally a dish that i enjoy... PRAWNS!!!

There was steam fresh prawns. (really really fresh!!!)
And Fried Soy Sauce Prawns...
Next is the most fascinating dish of the night - Stone Fish. As hard as it sounds, this stone fish is not as hard as stone. In fact, it feels soft. But i have to warn you though, never touch it with your bare hands, coz there are poisonous spikes on this fish. My mom wanted to feel whether it was hard or not, and the lady shouted. Not to scold her or anything but to warn her before she prick her finger on this 'spindle' like sleeping beauty. Only she won't just pass out but also suffer much pain. So considered yourself warned the next time you go scuba diving or something. This is how this 'stone' look like...

Stone Fish (can you spot it's eyes?)
And this is how it turned out, steamed in soy sauce. The meat is really good. Soft but not too soft till it's mushy but just nice for you to chew and feel the freshness of the fish. And here's another interesting thing i found out about the stone fish - it's bones are not white in colour like the rest of the fishes, but GREEN in colour... it's sort of like a transparently green in colour. cool huh?
After the stony dish, time for another clam (boy was it a clammy night). I don't know the name of this clam but it looks like escargots, just not as soft and black. It's a bit tougher and white in colour. Cooked with cheese... oops, Baked with cheese sounds more like it... This is the only clam dish i enjoyed. Picky, i know.
Cheese baked clams...
The cheapest dish of the night...
Fried Rice with Anchovies...
And the Grand Finale~~~

My favourite dish...

CRABS!!!

Steamed Crabs...
And the super awesome Salted Egg Crabs!!!
(just look at the shell being totally covered with salted egg like snow covering the mountain top)
Salted Egg Crabs and Black Pepper Crabs are my favourite crabs in the entire universe!!! Unfortunately, as nice as the salted egg tasted, the crabs weren't that nice. It was not very fleshy. Didn't really enjoyed the finale that I'd hoped. Well, at least i got to enjoy the fresh prawns and the salted egg (unhealthy as it seems, it's hard for me to resist my favourite food)

Hope you're able to sleep without a roaring stomach after seeing these pictures :)

Hassles For Noodles...

It was a Church Sunday today - Finally. So obviously, went to church with Andrew. Kien wei was away competing his way through a 1 on 1 futsal match (i think that's what they called it) in PWTC. According to him, it was suppose to start at 9am but ended starting at 11.

Got good news from Kien Wei after church, that he won the knockout round. and if he wins the next round, it'll be cash in for him. Congrats :)

Andrew and I (well it's actually just me) planned to go for Chillie Pan Mee after church, all the way in KL city. We got our directions, met up with Tet Leon and off we go~~~

In the city, we took quite a few turns everywhere. Lost our directions that were drawn on a paper due to my lack of good aiming - i tried to pass it to Andrew through my car window to his car window, crushed the paper and threw, too bad, it hit the window tip and fell on the road instead. Ha! So, it was up to our own memory of the directions drawn. After many U-turns, we finally found the place... (so we thought)

Took a long walk down the shop lots, practically walked from head to the tail of the shop lots till we found our shop... sat down, ordered and waited...

When the food arrived, it wasn't how i thought it would be... According to my perception (i shall say), i thought that it would be like cooked spicily... But it turns out, it's just normal Pan Mee soup. To turn it into Chillie Pan Mee, all you have to do is add in the secret ingredient that is in a bottle on every table - their magic chillie sauce... That's how you get Chillie Pan Mee... gees...

The Small Bowl - Rm3.60
The Big Bowl - Rm4.00
The Magic touch

But overall, it was really delicious. The soup was awesomely flavoured, it leaves you craving for more (when most probably it'll be Ajinamoto that does the trick)... the noodles are not too thin, not too thickly peeled, and it's cook till the state where it's soft yet sort of chewy... and the best part is, it's CHEAP!!! only RM3.60 for a bowl, and top another 40 cents and you'll get a bigger bowl with more soup and more noodles... cheap huh...

To me, I'll have to say, it's worthwhile going back for more from time to time. But the place is definitely not suitable to go at night nor is it comfortable to go during the day. There's a lot of 'females' waiting for males down by the stairways (if you know what i mean)...

Had a delicious day today. Tomorrow back to work. It's sad, i know...

Bloody Horror...

It was, what it seems to be a sunny afternoon... was working at my hell turned a lil heavenly hotel. my colleague asked me to arrange these glass bottled drinks on a shelf in our beverage store...

And while i was arranging it, 1 wrong turn to pick up the last 2 bottles, suddenly...

IT WAS A BLEEDING HORROR!!!

piang piang piang...

yeap... the shelf gave way and the glasses started falling and guess what???

yeap, a klutz like me (i always get hurt, everyday, somehow), got a cut on my hand... (damn the glasses)

it was flowing like the deep red sea came flushing into the beverage store, drowning my hand...
and poof... wallah...

bloody huh??
Wanna see another 1???

There you go... bloody Mary... eh, no... Bloody Soyan...
Nice and red huh... gees *flush*

And guess what? my colleague didn't come rushing over because it's actually quite normal to hear a banging sound in the lounge so yeah, i stood there for awhile, shocked, and didn't know i got cut and was bleeding because 1 of the bottles i was arranging, happens to be red wine... so i thought the red colour on my uniform was from it... funny, i know...

so i called out for my colleague, and she came, and BOOM!!! she stood there shocked for a few seconds and asked me if i was hurt, i said no... and she saw my bloody uniform and was even more shocked... she rolled up my sleeve and there it was... A cut from the glass (damn the glass again), with blood gushing out sort of rapidly...

went to the hotel's clinic with my colleague and boy was i seeing double of everything... my vision started to blur like the TV when there's no signal... my body started to feel floaty, my feet wasn't feeling like it was touching the ground anymore... i had to squat down for awhile till my visions were back... and finally, we reached the clinic... the nurses were shocked by the bloodiness on my hand...

the doctor used a cotton soaked in antiseptic and cleaned the wound... and she was stroking downwards soooo hard, directly on my wound and somehow opening my wound to check if there were any pieces of glasses in it... I felt nothing the 1st time she stroked over it, but the second time... EEE OUCH!!! well, i didn't scream, nor did i make any sound, but my hand started to shake...

the doctor said i could leave the wound to heel like that or get it stitched... well, she gave me a choice, so guess what my choice was???

after that, i asked the doctor for something to stop the giddiness in me, she gave me something to drink, i drank like 3 glasses and it still didn't stop it... so she gave me MC for the day...

it was the longest trip home ever... i had to like stop for awhile to get my visions straight before continue walking, taking the trains.. and it was raining =.='... but thank GOD i was able to drive home safely...

So, that's pretty much it for my bloody experience... lol...
*hope you didn't puke after seeing the pictures*

P.S: i didn't get it stitched...
Cheers...

The NEW 1st Post...

BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!

The fire strikes, high up into the dark black sky where all the shinny stars DIDN"T shine tonight...
No, wait. It's this morning...

The city, lighted with bright building lights and yet a bunch of much much brighter lights shot into the dark sky in strokes, circles, flowery shapes...

And up in a particular hilltop, stood a girl - with her friends, staring into the sky, watching as the bright strokes of lights took turns, shooting into the sky... And on that particular hilltop, practically ALL the fireworks in different 'countdown' spots could be seen... small but clearly...

So, instead of being in 1 particular countdown spot, only watching 1 fireworks performance, I could see ALL!!! that's the fun of it... why focus on only 1 when you can see ALL... and it's less crowded too... more peaceful... NO GETTING SPRAYED BY ANY RANDOM PASSERBY (though there were a bunch of teenagers spraying among themselves)...

And after the performance, stopped by at a mamak stall, had our 1st drink, our 1st hang out session of the year till 3am... and now I'm posting my 1st post of the year... very up to date, very efficient... Know why?

COZ I GOT NO WORK TOMORROW!!! (oops, it's actually today...)

Anywayzzzz... Wish you all readers...

A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Goodbye 2008, HELLO 2009!!!
