Island Of GEM

Hey!!! This blog has finally revived!!! sorry to keep you guys waiting. (as if anyone is...)

Anyway, back in college now... Going to get busy with assignments and all. (Yeah, right!) ha!

BUT!

Before starting my ALL SO BORING classes, I went to have a taste of seawater with my family in 1 of Terengganu's AWESOME beach - Gem Island a.k.a Pulau Gemia. Seriously, I think Terengganu has the best beaches ever!!! (So far anyway) I know most of you would say Sipadan is way way way awesome, but... I have not been there yet, so so far Terengganu's the best for me. And for those who don't know where Gem Island is, it's the island opposite Kapas Island. With 101 chalet on the island.

Once we arrived, welcome drinks were served as usual, had a little briefing by the GM of the resort. I 'flew' to my room to get changed once the keys were handed to me. And away i go! away i go into the turquoise coloured salt water. Boy was the water clear, they had tons of marines to admire. AND AND AND!!! they had my all time favourite marine - The Clown Fish! They were everywhere! Took in my new awesome underwater camera and took tons of pictures of them. And i mean TONS... Well, the clown fishes were the only ones dominating the waters. There's another marine life that dominated this beach, and it's not very friendly. It's black with spikes to horrifying that you don't want to swim near it at all. It's none other than the Sea Urchins!!! They're like everywhere in the waters.

But first! let me show you my comfy comfy bed...

nice huh... the room's awesome too!!!
And now my favourites...

This is my favourite picture of the clown fish... the nicest and prettiest clown fish anemone too...

Saw really nice parrot fishes too... Once there's bread in the water, there's no way escaping... They'll come from every angle possible... Waters were so clear that everything looked sooooo fantastic underwater.

These are some of the other marine lives that you can see there...

Christmas Corals
I think this is called Fan Worms...
And this cute shy Porcupine Fish. This is a lucky shot as they're always hiding under big corals.
During this trip, I've also experienced something which i don't wish to experience a second time in my life... At least not till I've overcome my sea sickness... That is Squid fishing... They took us way out into the South China Ocean, stopped in the middle of no where and started dropping the fish lines into the deep deep deep blue sea. And man! the boat was rocking like mad! To a point where it can actually overturn. No, I'm serious. Water was actually pouring in from the sides as it's rocking. And of coz, I came back to the resort empty handed but gave the sea everything I've got =.=' But, mom was lucky... She was the 1st to fish up squids.. and she caught 2!!!

Yay mom!!!
These were our dinner for that night. I didn't eat any. And I'm not eating squid for awhile...
During our last evening, Dad and I were bored, so we decided to venture round the rocks by the end of the beach.

That's dad thinking he can lift that big rock...
And me waiting for him to stop trying...

And during the night, went for a last walk along the beach before heading home the next day. We found hermit crabs crawling on the beach...

Fun creatures...
Oh before I missed out these really adorable creatures... There's a pond where they rare turtles!!! and then put them back into the sea when they're old enough...

I had a picture carrying 1 of them but sadly, some monkeys stole my phone and now the pictures are gone.... Curse them!!!

Overall this was a really relaxing yet fun trip. Best thing to do before heading back to hell -college.
